Celebrating National Veterans Small Business Week: The Legacy of Millbrook Support Services, a Proud SDVOSB

Holidays 3 min read , October 29, 2024

This National Veterans Small Business Week (NVSBW), Millbrook Support Services is honored to reflect on its roots and ongoing mission as a Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Business (SDVOSB). NVSBW celebrates veteran-owned businesses and the entrepreneurial spirit of veterans who bring resilience, dedication, and a commitment to service into the business world. For us at Millbrook, this week provides an opportunity to highlight our founder’s inspiring journey and our continued dedication to serving veterans, our partners, and our communities.

Millbrook’s Origins: Inspired by Service and Commitment

Millbrook was founded by Andrew “Andy” Doro, MBA, a veteran whose distinguished military service and dedication to excellence inspired the creation of our company. Andy served as a First Lieutenant in the U.S. Army, where he demonstrated valor and commitment to his fellow soldiers.

Throughout his service, he received numerous prestigious decorations, including the Silver Star, Purple Heart, Combat Infantryman Badge, National Defense Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal, and Marksmanship Medals. During his time in the military, Andy sustained injuries that resulted in a 100% disability. This experience instilled in him a powerful commitment to supporting his fellow veterans and building a company that upholds the values of dedication, resilience, and service.

Driven by his mission to create a world-class organization, Andy worked tirelessly to build a team of leaders devoted to serving clients, healthcare providers, employees, and, most importantly, patients. This passion for quality care and dedication to mission-based values remain at the heart of everything we do at Millbrook.

Our Role as an SDVOSB: Opportunities and Responsibility

Being a certified SDVOSB enables Millbrook to connect with government agencies and secure set-aside contracts, which are instrumental in leveling the playing field for veteran-owned businesses. This designation strengthens our ability to serve VA facilities, Native American reservations, and other government entities in need of reliable staffing and recruiting services. It also contributes to the broader veteran business community by keeping contracting dollars within veteran-owned companies, which promotes economic empowerment and stability for veteran entrepreneurs across the country.

Supporting Veterans Through Employment and Partnership

Millbrook’s commitment to veterans goes beyond its ownership. As a company, we actively seek to create employment opportunities for veterans, aligning them with roles that leverage their unique skills and experiences. Whether recruiting veterans into clinical or administrative roles, management positions, or contract assignments, we aim to connect veterans with opportunities that honor their dedication and allow them to continue serving their communities.

Through partnerships with VA facilities, government healthcare programs, and more, Millbrook helps to ensure that veterans and service members have access to high-quality care and dedicated staff who understand the military experience and its unique demands.
