Recognizing National Speech Pathologist Day – May 18

Healthcare 1 min read , May 18, 2025

At Millbrook, we’re proud to recognize National Speech Pathologist Day on May 18—a meaningful opportunity to celebrate the impactful work of speech-language pathologists (SLPs) who help individuals of all ages communicate more effectively and confidently.

What Do SLPs Do & Why Do They Matter?

SLPs are highly trained professionals who assess, diagnose, and treat speech, language, voice, and swallowing disorders. Whether supporting a child with a language delay, helping an adult recover speech after a stroke, or guiding someone through the challenges of a stutter, their work is deeply personal and life-changing.

Operating in schools, hospitals, rehabilitation centers, and private clinics, SLPs help individuals build communication skills that are essential for daily life. Their work fosters connection, independence, and self-expression—and for many, opens the door to being heard and understood.

A Month of Appreciation

May is a month dedicated to honoring those who care, teach, and advocate. Alongside National Nurses Week and Teacher Appreciation Week, National Speech Pathologist Day offers a moment to reflect on the vital roles these professionals play in strengthening our communities.

At Millbrook, we are fortunate to collaborate with exceptional SLPs whose compassion and expertise make a lasting difference every day.

Thank You

To all speech-language pathologists: thank you for the knowledge you bring, the care you give, and the voices you help empower. Your work matters, and we’re proud to celebrate you.

Happy National Speech Pathologist Day from all of us at Millbrook Support Services!
